Believe it or not in Arizona overwatering plants ends up killing your plants just as much as underwatering. We have a very hard soil in Phoenix that won't absorb water, and won't let water drain, it is terrible to grow in without treatment. Go figure a desert has bad soil. This means it is almost impossible to not overwater or underwater without some soil additives. It is just two extremes of the over zealous Gardener versus the neglectful Gardener, and at times we all end up being both of these. We needed to find a solution that worked for all our outdoor plants hooked onto the same drip line and this was the best solution. We tried adding vermiculite, perlite, woodchips, etc. This was the solution that allowed our plants to make it through the summer. Granted we are an extreme example of watering problems, but that just means when we find a product that works here to fix watering issues it will work anywhere else. It is also great for indoor use especially with any plant that is overly sensitive to root rot or excess watering. We add it to all our indoor plants, and sometimes we just use it to add a little flare to freshly cut flowers. Our go-to potting mix is 1 Cubic Foot of CoCo Coir (7.5 Gallons), 1 Cubic Foot Vermiculite or Pearlite (7.5 Gallons), 40 Grams of Dolomitic Lime, 10 Grams of Gypsum, and 6 small scoops of our Water Storing Crystals. You will need to use a fertilizer with this, but it will give you exclusive growth.

- Helps aerate soil. As you can see from the photos the crystals readily expand, and as they transfer the water back into the soil they shrink. This constant expansion and shrinking aerates your soil
